The 3rd China-ASEAN Media and Communication Education International Academic Conference Successfully Held at Guangxi University


On October 18, the 3rd China-ASEAN Media and Communication Education International Academic Conference, themed “Media Transformation and Journalism Education Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” was held at Guangxi University. The conference was jointly organized by the School of Journalism and Communication of Guangxi University, the School of Media and Communication of Guangxi Minzu University, the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanning Normal University, and the School of Journalism and Cultural Communication of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. It was hosted by the ASEAN Media and China-ASEAN Regional Communication Research Center of Guangxi University. Zhao Shuangliang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Guangxi University, attended the opening ceremony.

Zhao Shuangliang emphasized the long-standing friendship between China and ASEAN. He summarized Guangxi University’s initiatives to strengthen its educational features with a focus on artificial intelligence and ASEAN-oriented development, and reviewed the history of journalism education at the university. Zhao noted that Guangxi University will take this conference as an opportunity to further promote innovation in research paradigms and enhance the quality of talent cultivation. The university aims to nurture outstanding journalism and communication professionals who master intelligent technologies, uphold humanistic values, and contribute to building a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

At the conference, sixteen experts and scholars from universities and research institutions in Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam delivered keynote speeches on topics such as international communication in the era of artificial intelligence, the transformation of journalism education, and exchanges and mutual learning among regional civilizations. Their presentations covered a wide range of issues, including media education practices, innovative models of talent cultivation, and cross-cultural communication.

The conference featured four parallel sub-forums, where faculty members and students engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as China-ASEAN media transformation, innovation in journalism and communication education, the development of international communication capacity, and cooperation in artificial intelligence. In addition, the 2025 China (Guangxi)–ASEAN Forum on Journalism and Communication Education Cooperation and Development, as well as the China–ASEAN Regional Communication Nanning Forum, were also held during the event. More than 140 experts and scholars from 35 universities and research institutions in China and abroad attended the conference.
